Project Management, Part 1

We heard so many story, and we are involved in making the story. You know, in every success story, there are Project Management inside. it has built up its own glossary of jargon, much of which is unnecessary. I try to explain and share my experience in managing something, and iam sure its useful to you knowing this "jargon" then improve your managerial methods.

I split my writing into some parts to simplify posting in it. This section is all about basic of project management.

Basic.
Lets recite the word "Project Management", derived from "Project" and "Management". Put on your brain that you have something to do, and you must manage it well until the goal is achieved. So, there are Four basic elements in it, The Goal, plan, management, and resource/material.

In the company business process, we can simplify into 6 step to recognise so we can catch the main project management system is running well or not. I will make a simple example, the project is human resource provider, we will make this sample as domain of our discusion.

1. Management / Role / Policy, The company must provide labour for some company, manage them till the contract pass.
We can provide some engineers for your company, either fresh graduate level or proffesional level. Other, we also provide some OJT level, in this field, we will train them first, assest them, guide them until ready to work as your profesional engineer.
We manage our engineer profesionally, upgrade their skill and knowledge by our profesional trainer to conduct your business requirements. If any engineer make any trouble so influence your business process, we are ready to change them to other candidates, ensuring that your business process still in gaining.

2. Customer, The company needs to gather some customer and make it closely relation.
Our customer now are multy national company, not only in telecommunication fields but also in IT Fields. We conduct and gather institutions, profesional company and public as well. We collect them, engaged their need and supply the market demand of job smoothly.

3. Team, How the company prepare a solid team to achieve the goal.
Our team are profesional recruiters, we asses and observe customer requirements as we do for ours. Its prooved by so many customers who still asking us to provide their labours.

4. Delivering system, making the things done you set out to do.
In our company (www.nubeesystem.com), we are using information system to manage and ensuring the delivering system is running well, we can deliver our steps, our milestones, and our actual progress of recruiting to customer. It can be periodically or just deliver the end result of the process.

5. The five dimensions of a project – scope, quality, time, cost, risk
Understanding customer requirements is must, so to conduct customer quality target, we recommend some mechanims in hiring. There are :
a. Training Camp system, in this type, we will make a custom training for employees candidates as customer requirements. Very high quality result is must, and will comply with your business task. What we wanna do is, we train them to do the best ways in doing your works in your company, only the eligible candidates will hire profesionally to you.

b. Upgrading system
We need to asses, make the leveling, measure their knowledge then we provide the upgrading plan. You just need to follow our upgrading plan to gain their productivities.

c. Outsourcing system.
We manage all engineers and guarantee your business process will running well with our engineers.

6. Staging / milestoning project lifecycle
All of these process was running, we starting and always improve our ability to reach customer satisfying.

In this section, you have to define :
  1. What is the project ?
  2. How to manage ? (how your rules)
  3. Who is your team ?
  4. How to deliver ?
  5. Define the scopes 
  6. Ensuring the milestones.
Try to asking yourselves with a little things, let say your project is "passing the baccalaureates"

  1. I think, the best project manager will join the winning team beside the best marketer too. :D :D. The key is = heavy workloads (supply from marketing division), endurance, and keep passion to learn. I already read books about agile requirement, agile modelling and bla3x agile.... When every engineer want to scale up their performance with abundant constraint, well nothing to do except eat project management all. :D :D . Heavy workloads ? ehm, project management is the best thing to start.

  2. yes you are right, but one level upper than PM is also PM in bigger projects. So: its depend on the dimension (scope, risk, quality, time and cost)
