Project Management, Part 2


In this section, i will convey about the reason of managing a project and what the delivering forms and how to deliver the result. Previously, we talk about the basic guidance of a project managements in common, starting by defining the main goal, how to reach the goal, manage all tasks, and project dimension. Understanding the basic is important before you continue to this sections.

In business, project is usually considerably complex,  and achieving the goal is not easy. Success in projects depends on understanding precisely, completely, and unambiguously what you are trying to achieve.
Project Management: A Systems Approach to Planning, Scheduling, and Controlling
Secure the goal, process and starting point. Look out the 3 basic terms, they must be clearly understanding by you. These questions will help you to understanding them in deep.
  1. Goal
    1. What is the goal ?
    2. Why you are doing this project ?
    3. What will you have at the end that you don;t have now ?
    4. Will you deliver anything else ?
  2. Process
    1. How to achieve the goal ?
    2. What should you do to deliver the goal ?
    3. Is there any gap / overlap with other process ?
    4. What the strategy to reach your goal ?
    5. What obstacles will you need to solved ?
    6. How long you need time to solve all obstacles ?
    7. Is there any assumption that you need to verify ?
    8. Are there any significant problems that you need to overcome ?
  3. Starting point
    1. How many budget you need and how many do you have now ?
    2. Are you ready for the basic material ?
    3. Are there any existing roles that you need to changed (because will make serious trouble for project) ?
In the large scale projects, you need to write it down all of these roles, sometimes you needless to consider something that is out of your mind but, its strongly needed. I saw many things that make any trouble in the end, just because of lack of humanity issues, Its not a bug obstacles (sometimes they are just because of forget to remind and assign task to others).
